The opening ceremony gathered more than 1,400 participants to the
main auditorium of ICM in Munich. |
The plenary hall was filled to the last seat leaving some interested
participants in the foyer.

Ms. Nsame Nsemiwe from Zambia was the winner of the FIG Congress Prize
2006. The prize was given for her two papers provided to the
competition. |
At the opening ceremony the DVW Prize was given to Prof. Dr.-Ing.
Harald Schlemmer by Rolf Richter, President of the Rural
Development Office Under Franconia. |
The audience was entertained by Bassiona Amorosa. The double-bass
ensemble performed both classical favourites and the FIG fanfare with
great success. |

Opening Reception |
The opening ceremony was followed by a lunch reception hosted by DVW for
the invited guests. Here President and Mrs. Magel together with Dr. and
Mrs Töpfer, Dr. Irene Wiese-von Ofen (IFHP), Prof. Peter Dale and Dr.
Babette Wehrmann. |
