FIG President Stig Enemark attended the International Conference “Policy meets Land management: Contribution to the Achievement of the Millennium Development Goals”, in Munich, Germany, 17-18 April 2008. The Conference was hosted by Professor Dr.-Ing. Holger Magel, and co-organised by Professor Dr. Gottfried Konecny. The Conference was focused on the contribution of sound land policies and proper land management to the achievement and implementation of the Millennium development Goals. A special focus was given to reflecting the on the German contribution in this regard, but also the more global perspective were presented and discussed. The conference was very well attended. President Enemark gave his keynote presentation on “Global partnerships in Land Management" in the session entitled "Global Demand from a Professional Perspective – Overview of the MDGs in the context of Land Management". This session also included presentations from Dr. Clarissa Augustinus, UN-HABITAT Chief of Land and Tenure Unit; and Dr. Mika Törhönen, FAO Land Tenure and Management Unit. A second session included presentations from Mr. Willi Zimmermann, Land Policy Advisor, and Prof. Dr. Dietmar Grünreich, BKG President. The conference also provided an excellent opportunity through the panel sessions for discussing the various demands and approaches of Land Management in support of the MDGs.
