Appendix to item 27 REPORT FROM ACCOThe following brief report summarises the outcomes of discussions at ACCO and the main actions. 1. ACCO Nominee to CouncilAt the Inter-Commission meeting on the 5 May, it was recommended to ACCO and the General Assembly that the ACCO representative to the Council for the period from January 2002 - December 2002 should be John Parker. In addition 2 substitutes (Matt Higgins and Jes Ryttersgaard) should work with John Parker and form an informal executive group. This was subsequently agreed by ACCO and in consultation with the Bureau it was agreed to invite John Parker to the Council meeting to be held in Washington in December, 2001. 2. Review of Commission/Task Force/Permanent Institutions Task ForceACCO provided views to Tom Kennie on the work of his Task Force and endorse the paper to be presented to the GA at the final session on May 11. 3. Future StrategiesFollowing a brainstorming discussion at ACCO, further ideas were provided to complement those already being developed by the Shadow Bureau. 4. Co-operation with UN AgenciesACCO held discussions with Ian Williamson on the current and future links with UN Agencies. 5. Joint ActivitiesACCO identified a number of Joint Commission activities including;
6. Cooperation with Sister OrganisationNote signing of MoU with ISM and IAG and in due course with ISPRS and ICA. 7. Congress 2002Discussed form and structure of Washington 2002 with Mary Clawson and John Hohol and held separate meetings with all Commissions. 8. Cooperation on StandardsFurther discussion was held on the co-ordination of standards activities and the next stages in the evolution of the standards Task Force and to encourage participation from all Commissions. 9. ACCO Meeting Agenda October, 2001Agreed to meet from 0900hrs on Friday 26th October until 1900hrs on Saturday 27th October. Wherever possible ACCO members will arrive on Thursday evening. Day 1 will focus on the Congress (with a parallel meeting for Vice Chairs) and Day 2 will concentrate on the development of future strategies and the coordination of Commission, Task Force and Permanent Institution work plans. 10. Role of Commission SecretariesProposed enhancement of this increasingly important role was noted and this is reported on further in the Task Force report on Commission structure. 11. Publications on the FIG web siteAgreed that proceedings from FIG events (including Commission seminars) will be posted on the FIG web site.
